Aradiant’s UV systems have stood the test of time with hundreds of successful installations worldwide.  Recent adjustments to offset ink chemistry, have focused on allowing printers to utilize UV inks with fewer lamps and less power than previously found in UV systems.   Aradiant’s new MULTIMODE UV system allows you to take advantage of these chemistry changes, as well as utilize the standard UV ink and coating formulations that cost less.  In addition, additional lamps can be necessary and/or advantageous for printing spot and opaque colors,  as well as control of trapping and enhancing the gloss of coatings.

Features:

UV Interdeck
UV Interdeck
  • Color touch-screen control system operates the unit’s electrical functions and provides real-time analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Mercury vapor and/or additive lamps are available for “H”,”LE”, and LED type UV inks, as well as more traditional less costly UV ink and coatings.
  • Complete cooling by chilled water provides consistent, cooler temperatures of the reflector, shutter, substrate, and adjacent press equipment.
  • Cooling without the use of air allows the lamp to idle at 25% power, which economizes lamp life, reduces power consumption, and allows for faster restart during make-ready and press stops.
  • Patented linear bearing water-cooled shutter allows the press to be stopped with the lamp on indefinitely.
  • Compact construction with simple connections will not interfere with operator tasks.

Aradiant Chiller Cabinet NO Exhausting Required

Benefits:

  • Ozone-free system eliminates the need to vent exhaust, yielding a better plant environment.
  • “In the deck” mounting avoids unsightly ductwork so the press retains manufacturer intended access to blankets, cylinders, etc.
  • UV with no air movement ensures smooth sheet transfer.
  • In-house design allows each system to be custom built, including component construction, physical layout, and operation of the system with the printing press.

Functional Description:

In designing and constructing the MULTIMODE UV’s assembly, Aradiant has striven to create a machine that matches the integrity and long-term reliability of the printing press it works with.  Additionally, the UV system produces the radiant energy needed for high-speed ink and coating polymerization, without causing excessive heat build-up or fatigue in the press or dryer. It is the only machine to provide a continuous closed-loop process cooled environment to the UV heads. Therefore, the system remains at a constant temperature even when running for extended periods of time. Cooling the assembly without air results in a more stable lamp arc, allowing the system to idle at approximately 25% power, make instant jumps to maximum power and produce a more stable electrical load. Additionally, most lamp changes occur within ten minutes, without dismantling the UV assembly.

Aradiant UV Lamp Design
Major System Components

  • Over-arced lamps ensure curing to the fullest width on any given machine size, due to simple and compact lamp termination design.
  • Extruded aluminum lamp housing and shutter system transfer heat through internal refrigerated water ducts.
  • Shutter system incorporates an internally cooled plate supported by linear bearings on case-hardened shafts.
  • Color touch-screen control system provides easy and efficient control of the system.
  • Combines easily with Aradiant’s coating and/or infrared drying equipment for one complete turnkey system.

Aradiant believes that conventional ink drying, UV curing, and coating are integral parts of the printing process, not afterthoughts. Contact us today to find out how we can best meet your needs.
